7 benefits of coloring books

1. Calms the Mind and Boosts Cognitive Function

A excellent approach to calm your mind and relax your brain is to color in a coloring book. When coloring, your attention is on the straightforward task at hand. This starts to calm your mind and prevent intrusive ideas. ‌

Additionally, coloring can enhance brain function. Different areas of your cerebral hemispheres are stimulated while you color. Your creativity is triggered when you decide which colors to employ. Your intellect is also triggered as you color forms and shapes.

2. Promotes a state of meditation

Adult coloring can be soothing for some people, but it shouldn’t take the place of art therapy. According to some research, concentrating on the intricate design of your coloring sheet might aid in lulling your mind into a state of meditation.

When you give up worrying about the past or the future and solely concentrate on the now, you enter a meditative state. Coloring allows you to concentrate on a single action while stopping your inner dialogue and clearing your mind of unfavorable ideas and feelings. The more you meditate while coloring, the better you’ll get at it.

3. Enhances Motor Skills

You must develop your hand-eye coordination and motor skills in order to color more intricate images with smaller coloring areas; these abilities are not used when you are simply scrolling through your electronics. The following pursuits, according to some medical professionals, not only exercise the body’s muscles but also postpone the onset of dementia.
Coloring, Crossword puzzles, Brainteasers

4. Enhances Sleep

You’ll probably sleep better if you color before going to bed rather than scrolling through your phone. By preventing your body from naturally releasing melatonin, exposure to blue light from your phone or tablet can reduce the quality of your sleep. Instead of using gadgets before bed, try coloring in a book. This will allow your melatonin levels to gradually rise as your body prepares for sleep.

5. Enhances Focus

Adult coloring books might also help you concentrate better. Your frontal lobe is activated when you color, which indicates your brain is organizing and solving problems. You can unwind from the day and concentrate on one thing during routine coloring sessions.

6. Eases Stress

Adults’ anxiety levels can be lowered by coloring, according to studies. A good approach to lower your heart rate and reduce anxiety is to color for at least 20 minutes. According to the study, coloring more complex patterns like mandalas rather than a plaid pattern or a blank page was more successful. ‌

Additional advantages of coloring that reduce anxiety include:
mood elevation
an increase in mindfulness
reduced stress on the mind

If you require assistance with your anxiety, stress, or other mental health issues beyond merely coloring, you can speak with an art therapist or creative practitioner. ‌

More than only your mind can unwind and perform better when you color. Additionally, your body benefits. Your level of anxiety is lowered because to the stress alleviation provided by coloring. It’s possible that your chance of: is reduced when you release tension and stress from your body.
Body pains
sleeping issues
Fatigue\sDepression

While coloring won’t make your melancholy or anxiety go away, it can lessen the tension and anxiety that can cause depression. If coloring is something you like to do, you should do it frequently. ‌

7. Stress Relief

Stress reduction is one important advantage of coloring for adults. Coloring is a repetitive task that demands focus on specifics. You may not be paying attention to other things that may have stressed you out during the day when you are preoccupied with coloring.

Adult coloring books can bring back memories of your youth and help you unwind at the beginning or end of the day. You may be able to unwind by thinking back to a time when things were normally less stressful.

There is no reason why you shouldn’t try coloring, whether you do it for leisure or to unwind. Coloring is not just for kids. Take your focus off the issue the next time you’re feeling stressed out and start coloring.

Pregnancy journals

pregnancy-journals

For both the lady and her spouse, becoming pregnant is one of the most memorable experiences in life. Why not record those events in a pregnancy journal since most people will recall them with joy.

A pregnant journal is useful for a variety of different reasons besides emotional ones. For instance, you might notice some mood shifts as your hormones begin to run amok. You may find it easier to deal with these changes if you write about your symptoms and emotions.

Additionally, your gynecologist may want you to monitor your condition on a daily basis, and you may develop “pregnancy brain” (having a hard time remembering things due to hormonal disbalance). Therefore, keeping a pregnant journal should help you remember things.

You can also record changes in your self-perception as you get ready to become a parent, fantasies about the baby, plans for the baby’s nursery, and even your baby shower in your pregnancy diary. You can also keep track of the baby’s movements, inertia, hiccups, turns, and, if necessary, Braxton hicks or contractions.

It’s a fantastic approach to wrap up the journey with your birth story in the end.

BENEFITS OF MAINTAINING A PREGNANCY JOURNAL
keeping track of your feelings, appetites, physical changes, and baby’s movements;
keeping a journal of your memories from this memorable period so you can later, perhaps even with your child, share them.

WHO’S IT BEST FOR? Couples and expectant mothers.

Gratitude Journals

Here is a helpful action you can take to enhance your general outlook on life.

A gratitude journal is something that many prosperous people, including famous people like Oprah Winfrey, keep. Journaling and taking notes, according to Tim Ferris, are the two hobbies that spur his brainstorming sessions, sharpen his attention, and calm his anxieties. He utilizes The Five Minute Journal in particular, a gratidude journal that has been carefully curated for anyone who just wants to be happier.

If extended writing isn’t your thing, you’ll adore this organized notebook with exercises that will help you develop into the finest version of yourself. Writing down your genuine gratitude for life simply takes five minutes of your day.

Keep it positive, because that’s what gratitude journals are all about: cultivating an attitude of thankfulness and positivity.

Since gratitude writing is appropriate for children as well, the whole family can enjoy it. There are also specially curated journals for kids, such as The Five Minute Journal For Kids, where they can think back on their joyful moments during the day and develop the virtue of gratitude and fulfillment as adults.

BENEFITS OF GRATITUDE JOURNALING
enhances mental health; enables you to maintain your attention on the good (even while you’re going through a difficult time);
reduces tension and anxiety by assisting you in turning your focus to the positive;
helps you become more empathic, which helps you build better connections;
WHO SUITS IT BEST?
Those who desire improved well-being, happiness, and optimism;
Those who want to keep a notebook but lack the time to write extensively.

Reading journals

reading-journals

Are you an avid reader? Do you simply prefer staying home on the weekends and reading a book in your favorite chair? Maybe you’re in a book club too. If the response to both questions is “yes” then we have one question for you: how can you even survive without a reading journal?

A great technique to evaluate the book you’re reading is to keep a reading log. You can use it to jot down reflections on the chapters that particularly spoke to you or to store memorable quotes.

A reading log is essential when participating in a book club session. To be honest, we forget the majority of the thoughts and feelings that are racing through our heads when we read. This is why it’s a good idea to write them down in your diary and have them available whenever you want to share your ideas with the group.

If you’d prefer not to keep a paper journal, you can always use Goodreads, where you may post your own reviews, make plans for future reading, and read those of others.

BENEFITS OF READING JOURNALING
keeping all the quotations you think are significant and helpful in one location;
keeping a record of every book you read for easy access;
You are consistently prepared for the book club meeting.

WHO SUITS IT BEST?
The ideal audience for this website is readers;
Book club members and quote enthusiasts.

Artistic Journals

artistic-journals

You can keep an artistic journal even if you’re not an artist, but if you are, it can be quite helpful for preserving your original ideas and impromptu artwork.

You still can keep an artistic journal even you are not an artist.
To express your creative potential, you don’t necessarily need to be an artist. Anyone can experiment on paper with a pencil, crayon, or whatever else they like. An old Russian proverb states that even “poor” art suffers on paper.

Writing down your thoughts after attending concerts, plays, exhibitions, museums, and other forms of art is also a fantastic idea. To add interest, you can also clip a ticket or a picture to a page. Isn’t it fun?

We should also point out that people with psychotic illnesses can gain a lot from expressing their creativity and keeping an artistic journal because it gives them a sense of freedom, allows them to see things from different angles, allows them to express their thoughts and emotions through drawing (when it’s difficult to do so with words), and does so much more.

BENEFITS OF ART JOURNALS
expressing your creative spirit; preserving your original artistic ideas; and keeping your cultural event memories alive

WHO SUITS IT BEST?
People with anxiety or depression; those who want to concentrate on psychological well-being; those who want to develop their creative potential; those who want to convey their sentiments and emotions without using words; those who want to keep memories of artistic events they attended.

Sport journals

sport-journals

Despites you’re a amateur or a professional athlete, sport journals are useful because they give athletes a structured and regulated format to record their training schedule, training observations, and evaluations of their performance. Athletes might identify trends in their performance when looking back at past results. The majority of successful athletes, in my experience as a sport psychologist, keep a written journal of their daily activities, according to Dr. David Cox, a psychology professor at Simon Fraser University. A journal is a useful tool for keeping track of your progress as an athlete and for analyzing your training.
